How many players per country is allowed?
This is the Olympics Beijing 2008. China completes Olympic table tennis sweep. The 3 medals: Gold, Silver, and Bronze are both for Chinese players.
It has been said that The Chinese are so good at table tennis. To prevent the domination of China in the Olympics, the rule has changed.
Each country can send only 2 players for the men single event.
Nevertheless, in the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games, China still dominated winning Gold and Silver medals. The Olympic committee could have possibly put even tighter measures in place to prevent one country’s dominance in any given game.
I’m not sure these changes will affect the talent coming to China, it’s more about fairness giving other countries a chance to win. Having said that, it is a real pleasure to see Ma Long and Fan Zhendong win the Olympics.
Who will participate in this Olympics?
