Who is the best team in table tennis?

By watching Table Tennis Chinese Superleague, many players think that China will have the strongest team in table tennis. However, Ma Long is playing for team Beijing. But Fan Zhendong, Zhou Qihao are playing for team Guangdong. So what is the best team in table tennis?

The best table tennis teams

In the German Budesliga, most table tennis fans know Timo Boll’s team, Borussia Dusseldorf. Many Americans have been watching another German team, Liebherr Ochsenhausen, which includes USA’s Kanak Jha and Brazil’s Hugo Calderano. But do you know Fakel Gazprom Orenburg, the Russian Champions League’s dominant team?

Fakel Gazprom Orenburg has a superstrong lineup in table tennis.

Fakel Gazprom Orenburg: my God, what a team. Even the coach would shake up the opponents in front. As the philosopher said “unplayable!”

Looks like this team is getting ready to play the Chinese super league!

This is just literally the PSG of table tennis! (One of the best non-Chinese table tennis teams in the world).

Vladimir Samsonov leads the team, and also the coach. Among them are German Dimitrij Ovtcharov (son of a Russian table tennis star) and Portugal’s Marcos Freitas. A year ago, they added Lin Yun-Ju, a talented Taiwanese player ranked 7th in the world.

The duo of Ovtcharov (12) and Lin (7), both sponsored by Butterfly, has consistently put this squad in the mix of the best in Europe. They have dominated the Russian league and won 5 European Champions League titles (after their win in 2019 tied them with Dusseldorf for the most ECL titles, but last December Dusseldorf won and is back in the lead with their 6th title).

LIN Yun-Ju replaces CHUANG Chih-Yuan

The president of the club confirmed that:

“We want to win the European Champions League, the Russian championship, and the National Cup. LIN Yun-Ju – an 18-year-old world-class player (No. 7 in the ITTF ranking), the first number of the Taiwan national team will play in our club from July 1. He will play in the team instead of CHUANG Chih-Yuan.”

Who is the sponsor?

On October 20, 2001, the Fakel-Gazprom club was founded. Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg is the club’s main sponsor.

Orenburg is technically in Europe, yet it is in Southwest Russia. But, being on the Kazakhstan border, it is closer to Iraq and Iran than Germany and France. The city of half a million people was called after a stronghold in the 1700s. Gazprom, the team’s sponsor, is Russia’s largest publicly traded energy corporation.

Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg is a joint venture between Gazprom and Gazprom Pererabotka. The company is divided into ten structural units. The company employs 5,600 people.

The company’s main source of raw materials is the Orenburgskoye oil, gas, and condensate field, which contains unique components such as methane, ethane, propane, butanes, helium, mercaptans, and so on. This is why Gazprom Pererabotka’s Orenburg Gas Processing and Helium Plants create a wide range of commercial products.

Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg’s main areas of business include hydrocarbon production, treatment, and transportation, as well as a variety of commercial products from partner enterprises.

Hugo CALDERANO joined the club

The work to strengthen the Orenburg table tennis club Fakel-Gazprom continues. The five-time European champion, the strongest club in Russia and Europe, has signed a contract with one of the world’s best players, Hugo CALDERANO of Brazil.

“We are delighted to welcome Hugo CALDERANO to our squad and wish him the best of sporting results with the Orenburg TTC Fakel – Gazprom,” said TTC Fakel – Gazprom Vice-President Victor ANDREEV.

Hugo Calderano has quit Liebherr Ochsenhausen

CALDERANO has spent the last seven years with the German team TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen, where he has won the Table Tennis Bundesliga and the German Cup.
