I have explained the most basic table tennis rules for the 1v1 competition. Today, let’s talk about the most basic rule in table tennis for double games (2v2).
01 Serving in double must go right court
In the server’s right court, the serve must bounce. Service must be diagonal. (NOTE: landing on centerline is fair). After two serves, doubles players swap places.
02 Rally in double must alternate
In a rally, doubles players must exchange hitting balls, regardless of where the ball lands.
03 Swap after each set
A changeover happens after each set. This will also alter the receiving order.
For example, A & B will play against X & Y. In set 1, A will serve Y. In set 2, A will serve X.
