Philipp from Germany has emailed me:
Hi Coach,
I am a fan of your work. I have a question: I am coming back from a longer break. Forehand is good, fast strong stroke with spin, I try to implement “power from the ground” as best as I can. Backhand is solid but I have to develop more spin through wrist stroke.
How to do the power from the ground for the backhand?

Using this concept for the forehand
You can watch this video to learn about this concept.

I have explained the concept of “power from the ground” for the forehand.

Or you can search “power from the ground pingsunday” to read the article.
Using this concept for the backhand
So here is an example of using power from the ground for the backhand.
Coach Joze Urh is training for Darko Jorgić. This is very high-quality training.
Watch this video:

You can see that coach Joze is feeding the ball to Darko to backhand topspin.
Look at how Darko lifts up his body. The power is generated by lifting up the body.
I also like the way coach Joze is jumping at the same time. This will help the player to remember the timing.
Timing is very important in table tennis.
If you want to improve the power of your backhand, then you should apply the same concept of “power from the ground” to the backhand side.
Here is how to apply this concept to the forehand side.

Drop the racket down, lift it up, and rotate the body.
The power is generated with the legs.
