Best players at 2021 World Table Tennis Championships

Participants for the 2021 World Table Tennis Championships (WTTC) in Houston have been confirmed. Who will be the champion at this WTTC 2021?

The Championships, which run from 2021 November 23 to 29, are the first time the sport’s premier tournament has been held in the Americas. According to the ITTF, all 51 competing member associations have named their players for the competition.

Chinese table tennis team concluded the closed training camp for nearly a month and has gone to the Houston World Table Tennis Championships.

Men’s single event

In the men’s singles, world No. 1 Fan Zhendong is the all-time leader, followed by Zhou Qihao, Lin Gaoyuan, Wang Chuqin, and Liang Jingkun.

Japan, one of China’s biggest challengers at the event, features adolescent phenomenon Tomokazu Harimoto, Koki Niwa, Yukiya Uda, Masataka Morizono, and Shunsuke Togami.

In the European teams’ quest, Germany will rely on experienced Timo Boll, Patrick Franziska, Benedikt Duda, and Ruwen Filus.

Sweden’s Mathias Falck, who finished second in the 2019 edition in Budapest, and Brazil’s Hugo Calderano will also be players to watch in Houston.

Women’s single event

In the women’s division, seven of the top ten players are set to compete for the title this time around.

The Chinese combo of Chen Meng and Sun Yingsha are considered title favorites, although world No. 3 Mima Ito of Japan is expected to pose a formidable challenge.

Mixed double events

Xu Xin and Liu Shiwen won’t participate in this WTTC 2021. Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha will replace Xu Xin, Liu Shiwen.

The best mixed-double on the world ranking is now Lin Yun-Ju and Cheng I-Ching.

Tomokazu Harimoto will play with Hina Hayata in this WTTC 2021. Japan can win the Gold and Silver medal at Houston, Texas.

Women’s double and Men’s double events

Here are the top doubles in the WTTC 2021 Houston.

For China, Lin Gaoyuan will play with Liang Jingkun.

Fan Zhendong will play together with Wang Chuqin.
