Learning the basic backhand topspin technique

Learning the backhand topspin technique.

Hello, welcome back to PingSunday, the best place to learn table tennis. I’m EmRatThich. Today, we will learn the basic backhand topspin technique with the beautiful Chinese coach, coach Cha Xiaoxi. This is the basic skills in table tennis.

01 The principle

Coach Cha Xiaoxi explained that, when doing this technique, many players make the same mistake. They are trying to hit by the side. No!

The backhand technique is performed in front of your body, so you need to drop your wrist, and then hit the ball forward. Don’t hit the ball to the side.

02 The legs

The legs are important. The coach explained that you should bend your legs. The legs is wider than the shoulders. And then generate the power by using the hips. Hitting the ball upward and forward to generate enough spin.

03 Drop the shoulder

After each shot, you should drop your shoulders to prepare for the next shots. If you forget this step, then how can you generate safe shots? Drop the shoulders and then spin the ball safely the next shot.

If you forget this step, then your backhand topspin has not enough spin.

OK. This is the lesson for this Sunday. See you next weekend, EmRatThich.
