How to forehand counter-topspin in table tennis?
Dear table tennis coach and player, today let’s talk about the forehand counter-topspin in table tennis.
Many players think that this technique is very difficult. I don’t think so. When you master the forehand topspin skill and the timing, then you can do the forehand counter-topspin easily. In France, we call this technique “top sur top”. Using our own topspin to deal with the topspin ball.

What is the counter-topspin?
The upcoming ball comes to you with a lot of spins, you have 3 options:
1) to block
2) to defend with a chop
3) to counter-topspin
Chinese players want to maintain the aggressive situation, so they practice the counter-topspin a lot.

How to play forehand topspin over the topspin like a pro?
Today, this technique is a must when you play far from the table. In my coaching experiences, many amateur players forget 2 key points:

1) You need to wait for the right timing.
Many amateur players are too eager to hit the ball. They don’t know the right timing. They hit too soon, so they can’t generate a lot of power.
The right timing is the moment that the ball goes near your body. The ball should make a triangle with your forehand and your body. Wait for the ball to come, and generate the power. It’s not as difficult as you think.

2) You need to generate your own power.
Because you play the forehand counter-topspin far from the table. You need to generate your own power. The power comes from the ground. Use the hip’s rotation, to transfer this power to the ball.
