The final four men team 2023

In the first round, 16 teams from the second and third divisions were split into four groups of four teams each. At the end of August 2022, these teams played each other in a round robin. The four winners of their groups moved on to the 1/8 finals, where the game changed to a knockout format. The teams from the top division were chosen to play in the 1/8 finals. The semi-finals and the final will be held on the same day, January 8, in Neu-Ulm. They will be set up like the Final Four.

Games will be played using the TTBL system, with three-person teams going up to three points. Players can go in any order they want. With a score of 2-2, the final doubles game is played, but number one can’t play because he or she has already played two singles.

On Saturday, January 7, at the Sportkomplex Paul-Heyse-Straße, twelve teams will try to win one of the four coveted spots in the final tournament, which will be held the day after the DTTB Final Four decides who will win the Cup. The four winners of their groups will move on to the semi-finals, where the game will continue as a play-off. The semi-finals and the final will be played in Berlin on the same day in a “Final Four” style.

Games will be played using the TTBL system, with three-person teams going up to three points. Players can go in any order they want. With a score of 2:2, the last doubles game is played. The number one player, who has already played two singles, cannot play in this game.

TTC Neu Ulm won the 2023 German League

Neu-Ulm has won the Pokal-Finale, which is the German Table Tennis League’s midyear Final Four championship.

A year ago, it was all that TTC Neu Ulm could do to stay in the middle of the pack in the German Table Tennis League. The team had good players. In fact, most of the best Russian players were on it (Lev Katsman, Maksim Grebnev and Vladimir Sidorenko).

As fighting broke out between Russia and Ukraine, Neu Ulm was left in the dark. At first, Russian teams weren’t allowed to compete, and there was talk about keeping Russian athletes from competing as well. This made it hard for many of their players to travel, and they didn’t know who would be available for the new season. Neu Ulm got a big break when three of the best players in the now-defunct Russian League quit their teams and joined Neu Ulm.

TTC Neu Ulm’s composition 2023

Dimitrij Ovtcharov, Truls Moregard, and Lin Yun-Ju (and Tomokazu Harimoto, even though he hasn’t played yet) have turned Neu-Ulm from a team in the middle of the pack to the favorite.

Final between Borussia Dusseldorf and TTC Neu Ulm

On Sunday, 5,000 German fans packed the arena in Neu Ulm to cheer on their newly strengthened team, and the dream team did not disappoint their home crowd. Borussia Dusseldorf, Ochsenhausen, Saarbrucken, and Neu Ulm were the last four teams standing. Borussia Dusseldorf beat Saarbrucken 3-0 in the first round, and Neu Ulm beat Ochsenhausen 3-0 as well.

Neu Ulm won the final game by a score of 3-0. Lin Yun-Ju beat Anton Kallberg in the first match easily, 3-0. Timo Boll and Truls Moregard played a close match, but Moregard won the second, fourth, and fifth games to win the match 3-2. The match was over when Ovtcharov beat Dang Qiu 3-0 to win the match.

Neu Ulm is the best when they can use all of their stars. Still, they haven’t been able to use their best players in many of the regular league games, and they are currently in seventh place with a record of 6-5. If they want to go to the end-of-year final, they’ll have to work hard to make sure they’re in the top four. Harimoto might make his first appearance this winter.

Dimitrij Ovtcharov was very happy

Dimitrij OVTCHAROV was “totally happy.” The German national player may have been spoiled for the title because he had already won two individual Olympic bronze medals, but OVTCHAROV also got to try something new in the Final Four. The 34-year-old won the German Table Tennis Cup with his club, the TTC Neu-Ulm. This was the club’s first title in its history.

He said,

CUP WINNER!!! Wow what a day yesterday!
In front of an unbelievable, local scenario, we actually managed to get the German cup to Neu-Ulm! 🏆 An idea last year turned into an incredible TT project thanks to Florian Ebner. I’m proud to be a part of this team ❤️

“It was a very important event for all of us,” said OVTCHAROV.

Not only was the championship win historic, but so was the atmosphere. Fans cheered loudly for the teams at the sold-out ratiopharm arena Ulm/Neu-Ulm, which set a new attendance record for the organizers, the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL). In 2020, 4,600 people came to watch, but the next two Final Fours had no fans because of a pandemic.

Timo Boll knows his limit

It was “an absolutely deserved win for the Neu-Ulm team,” which Düsseldorf’s superstar Timo BOLL had to admit. As usual, he was a good sport about it: BOLL said, “Neu-Ulm has a very strong team.” “Of course, we would have liked to have gotten closer, and we were in a good mood. But Neu-Ulm showed us how far we could go this time.”

Boll didn’t lose until his second match in the final. He put on a table tennis festival with Truls MOREGARDH, which the crowd applauded enthusiastically. In the end, World vice-champion MOREGARDH won 3:2, which is the same score as in the semi-finals of the 2021 World Championships in Houston (4: 3). The other two singles were better: LIN Yun-Ju beat Anton KLLBERG 3-0, and OVTCHAROV beat the German national team and European champion Dang QIU by the same score.

Semi-final matches

Sunday’s semi-finals showed that both teams were among the best in the world. Last year, Düsseldorf lost the final 1:3 to 1. FC Saarbrücken TT. This year, they got their revenge by beating their long-time rival 3:0. BOLL beat his good friend and teammate on the national team, Patrick FRANZISKA, 3:1. Neu-Ulm beat Ochsenhausen at the next table. OVTCHAROV worked hard and defeated Can AKKUZU in the fifth game. OVTCHAROV: “I didn’t find my game, but I tried to take the good things into the final.” “I’m glad I was able to do that.”

In Germany, ttc Berlin eastside got the first title of the year. In the last four of the cup championships, they beat TSV Langstadt in front of their home fans in the final. Both SV Boblingen and TSV Schwabhausen didn’t make it to the final.

It’s the eighth time that the capital city has won the cup since the competition was brought back in 2014. As they did in the semi-finals, they beat the Hessians in the final without losing. Last but not least, thanks to a confident first-round win by Serbian Sabina SURJAN, who didn’t give Tanja KRMER much of a chance. In the second match, Nina MITTELHAM was playing Franziska SCHREINER. At first, it looked like the Berliner would win easily. But SCHREINER got back on his feet. In the fifth game, though, she lost to the number 14 player in the world.

After that, the players from Langstadt seemed a little less sure of themselves, so SHAN Xiaona scored the last point that Berlin needed to beat Chantal MANTZ 3-1.

“We deserved to win the Cup,” said coach Irina PALINA. “I am very happy and satisfied.” “The team did a great job throughout the whole tournament, not just in the final. But it wasn’t just how well the players did; everyone on the bench got along well and did their part to help us win.”

TSV Langstadt lost the cup final again this year, but they can still be happy: “We didn’t really know where we were without Peti (Petrissa SOLJA, at the end of her career) and Minnie (Minni Soo Wai Yam). We came in second in a very tough race, so we can be very happy with that. In the final, we put Tanja, who had won against SURJAN in the Bundesliga game, in first place, which was a big risk. But she couldn’t do it again today “looks at TSV head coach Thomas HAUKE.

TTC Neu-Ulm is the strongest team in Europe

The only team can compete with this line up (Dimitrij Ovtcharov, Truls Moregard, and Lin Yun Ju)is the Chinese National Team (Ma Long, Fan Zhendong, Wang Chuqin).

This was the first time fans were able to attend the event since the pandemic. The women’s team of ttc Berlin eastside also won their competition and this was the eighth cup victory for the team in the tenth edition of the cup competition. It was a great victory as it was secured in front of their home crowd in the final against TSV Langstadt, SV Böblingen and TSV Schwabhausen missed out on making the final.
